Out And About In Penrith And Local Area

Penrith market town is located in the Eden valley which is seen as the gateway to the Northern part of the Lake District. Just down the hill from the Agricultural Hotel into the main town centre you can find a number of shops,cafes,bars and restaurants. Also the tourist information centre can be found   where you can find out any information necessary. Located behind the Agricultural Hotel is Morrisons supermarket and petrol station for any of those essentials you may require. across the road from the Agricultural Hotel you can find the ruins of Penrith castle and park where you can play tennis, bowls and crazy golf or go for a relaxing walk around the gardens. You can also find an 18 hole golf course just on the outskirts of the town.

The Agricultural Hotel is a 2 minute walk away from the train station and also you can get buses from there too or from the bus station in the town centre. We have bus and train timetables available for you to check times for the transport.

On the outskirts of Penrith on the A66 toward Keswick you can find the Rheged Discovery   Centre. This is a very popular attraction that is built into a hill which is a must see in itself. It has a number of shops, exhibitions and a cinema. Rheged is open daily to visitors. Also at Langwathby is Eden Ostrich World, this is very popular for families with children and leaflets can be found for here and other attractions in the bar area at the Agricultural Hotel.
